Gary Mattin, chancel Choir Director
Gary Mattin, a retired public school music educator in Sycamore and Hinckley/Big Rock, has led the Chancel Choir since 1987. He is a part-time instructor at Kishwaukee Community College, a member of the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra and provides musical support to the Stagecoach Theater and Sycamore High School productions. Gary has a B.M.E. from North Central College, Naperville, and a M.S. in Vocal Choral Music Ed. from the University of Illinois C-U. He has directed choirs at Naperville Congregational Church, English Congregational Church in Big Rock and Westminster Presbyterian Church in DeKalb.
Marilyn Montzka, Handbell choir Director
Marilyn Montzka teaches piano at her home studio in Sycamore and at Northern Illinois University. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree at Oberlin Conservatory of Music with further pedagogy study under Yasuko Joichi.
Mrs. Montzka has taught general and Instrumental music in New York and New Jersey. She has given private and group lessons and workshops in the Suzuki Piano Method in Utah, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. Currently she plays viola in the Kishwaukee Symphony. Her four children are all musicians, performing and teaching in the Sycamore-DeKalb area and in Chicago and St. Louis.
ryan Krause, Pianist/Organist
Ryan Krause is a student at Northern Illinois University, studying Piano Performance and Composition. He has over 3 years experience playing organ for church services. Ryan started playing piano when he was 5 years old and has played piano in several orchestras through High School: Rockford youth symphony, Elgin youth symphony, Chicago concert orchestra and youth symphony, Rock Valley College student orchestra, as well as many chamber ensembles through these organizations.
